Career Research Questions- Psychologist
1.      Who hires entry level professionals for your career?
Hospitals, schools, prisons. Yah I just said school and prison in the same sentence…
2.      What does one need to know and be able to do for this career? (i.e. skills, training, etc.)
Being a psychologist requires the ability to diagnose understand how and why people think certain ways and know which medicine to give them. You learn these things during your psychology major.
3.      What type of work does one do in this career?
Well it depends on what kind of people a psychologist works with, but mostly they just listen to their problems and assist them in conquering their psychological fears.
4.      What are typical starting salaries?
$69,950
5.      What type of benefits package can one expect?  (Medical, dental, vision, retirement, etc.)
I depends on where you work but assuming I work at a hospital I would get Health Insurance, Dental, optometry, and 10 sick days a year
6.      How many entry level jobs are available each year?

7.      What is the projected outlook for job openings in this career for the next ten years?
It is estimate that Psychology jobs will have grown 12% in 2022
8.      Where are these jobs located?
Literally in every city in the United States. Hospitals are in every city therefore Psychologists are also.
9.      What sort of advancements are available in this career?
Clin Psychs don't work to get promotions, they do get raises though, and big ones. But mostly they're thoroughly invested in the field itself. This means that they'll take on more responsibilities rather than be promoted - this can be becoming the head of units, becoming editors for journals, taking up teaching duties at the local Univeristy etc.
10. What is the average salary?

11. What is a high salary?  How many people make this salary?
Less than %10 of all psychologist make $111,381 a year. These physcholigsts usually have their PhD’s and have been working for over 30 years.
12. What professional organizations will you need to join?
APA, American Psychologist Organization
13. Is additional education required?  If so, what is required?
A PhD is required to become a clinical psychologist, the most prestigious of all psychologist careers. But with only a bachelors or a master’s degree in psychology one could get a job for a school, the government or prisons.
14. After 15 years, what second career(s) could you pursue with the same degree and/or other education?
I would probably open my own psychologist office.
15. What other relevant information did you find?
Psychologists who are older and more experience are respected, paid and hired substantially more than straight out of college, or young ones.
